PSY1022 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Normal Distribution, Unimodality, Statistical Inference
Document Summary
Statistics: statistical methods help organize and summarize the data so the researcher can see what happened in the study and communicate the results to others. Statistics help the researcher answer the general questions that initiated the research by determining exactly what conclusions are justified based on the results. There are two statistical techniques: descriptive statistics. There are two general techniques used to sort out descriptive statistics. There are two options for graphing the frequency distribution: histogram: shows a bar above each score so that the height of the bar indicates the frequency of occurrence for that particular score. The bars for adjacent scores touch each other: polygon: shows a point above each score so that the height of the point indicates the frequency. Frequency table: organized tabulation showing exactly how many individuals are located in each category on the scale of measurement.
