Individual"s characteristic pattern of thinking, feeling, & acting (myers, 1995: unique psychological qualities of individual that influence variety of situations. & over time (zimbardo, 1996: individual"s unique constellation of consistent behavioural traits (weiten, 1998) Enduring, relatively permanent, unique, consistent, typical, or stable patterns of thoughts, feeling, motivations, behaviours, traits, dispositions, characteristics or psychological qualities displayed or experienced across a variety of situations and over time. A good personality theory should allow us to make predications. Key questions in personality: good vs evil, heredity vs environment, conscious vs unconscious, personality vs situation, determinism vs. free will, uniqueness vs. similarity. Ambiguous: when it"s not clear what"s going on or what is expected of you. Novel: situation is new but you know what"s going. Our personality often revealed when we have particularly strong reactions to other people. Your reaction comes from you, not other person. Innate components are affected by experience: early childhood family, culture.
