Conceptualising the relationships between events and urban regeneration. 2 key concepts: event led regeneration, event-led regeneration is where the redevelopment is designed simply to meet the needs of the event, without any broader or longer term impacts, for example: Investment in new venues: re-use of brownfield or industrial land; Economic regeneration is about creating more business and employment in the destination. The main event can be augmented with smaller events and attractions to prolong the benefits. Hosting future events will help provide longer term employment and make use of new infrastructure and venues. A new image for the destination can attract inward investment. The event can provide training, skills and employment to local residents. The event can be used to promote programs targeting social problems.
