Document Summary
Chapters 1 and 2 - making mathematical models. When asked to develop a mathematical model, follow the following steps. Nd a mathematical model for the concentration of a drug in a person"s blood: establish all the factors that a ect the variable being measured. Eg: factors a ecting the concentration of drug in blood: weight of person, time since taking the drug, mass of drug consumed, establish the e ect of each factor on the blood concentration value. As weight of person increases = drug concentration in blood decreases. As time since taking drug increases = drug concentration in blood decreases. As mass of drug increases = drug concentration in blood increases: establish a number of equations that display the above e ects. We know that as weight and time increases, drug concentration decreases. Hence, weight and time have to either be subtracted from the equation or used to divide.
