Intangible property (chose in action), can be bought, sold, licensed, used simultaneously by multiple people. Property rights come into e ect when the owner"s rights have been infringed - get an injunction. Has no registration system, but does has a statutory regime that protects rights of owner"s copyright. Lasts for the life of the owner + 50 years. Doesn"t protect ideas, only ideas in material form. S18: creator has to be a nz (or recognised country) citizen/resident. S14: copyright is a property right, copyright exists within original (not copied) works. Su cient independent time, labor and skill is also required (no aesthetic requirement though) Copyright owner"s rights: s16: owner has the right to copy, right to perform the work, right to make adaptation, infringe above rights without permission? owner is entitled to remedy, possible injunction. Proving infringement of copyright: causal connection - link between pl"s work and df"s copy.
