Document Summary
The best way i have heard borderline personality disorder described is having been born without a skin - with no barrier to ward off real or perceived emotional assaults. What might have been a trivial slight to others was for me an emotional catastrophe. (williams 1998) Based on cbt and acceptance and relationship strategies. Bpd / biosocial theory of bpd / bpd criteria: a pervasive dysfunction of the emotion regulation system. Emotional dysregulation (emotional vulnerability & inability to regulate emotions) is caused by biological predisposition to emotional vulnerability and an invalidating environment. Meet 5 out of the 9 criteria: labile moods / impulsiveness / unstablle-self-image / labile intense relationships / suicidal gestures / inappropriate anger / vulnerability to abandonment / emptiness / paranoia or dissassociation under stress.
