SPTH3002 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Costs In English Law, Pacifier, Pharyngeal Arch
Document Summary
Client focused - thinking about the client holistically. Assess, manage, make plans and treat - client is considered the child/baby. Providing education to parents - to explain what we are doing and why. Part of our role to train parents to tap into the baby"s cues - not only there to deal with feeding but also with the baby/child"s communication. Talking to parents about reading baby"s cues and being able to facilitate that. A baby/child is not going through feeding difficulty on their own; parent/carer is supporting them so we need to offer them support, letting them know what we are doing and why we are doing it. Make the parent part of the team - we might have the feeding knowledge but they have their child"s knowledge. Important offering emotional support - if have parent with child having medical/developmental issues, need to provide emotional support as it would be stressful for them.
