Document Summary

Element; substance that cannot be broke of separated into two or more singular substances, and retain its identity. Atom; is the smallest particle of matter. Identifiable as a particle of a specific element. 1810 dalton; atoms of one element are all the same (nearly) due to isotopes and are different to other atoms of other elements. They do not change their identity when they are in chemical reactions. Compounds are in a constant composition, and are a joining when atoms of different element combine. E. g ethanol is ethanol as it is always c2h5oh. Neutron is the left over weight, and is not fixed. Two or more elements, bound together in definition proportion of the atoms. Isotopes; two of the same element differing only in the number of neutrons present.
