PSYC101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Optical Illusion, Gestalt Psychology
Document Summary
Illusions show us how visual perception of the brain works. Brains can make assumptions about what we"re seeing - visual illusions. Red vs green, blue vs yellow, black vs white. When exposed to too much stimulus the receptors experience bleaching, and are fatigued. Stop perceiving colour, the opposing colour neuron"s take their place. Eyes have problems after continuous movement stimuli. Neuron receptors for movement are fatigued, compensate by giving sensation of moving in opposite direction. Closure; perception of incomplete figures as a whole. Continuity: organisation of stimuli into continuous lines or patterns.
