Digestibility: more fibre in feed longer it stays in the rumen more methane produced, less fibre animals access to nutrients faster, the amount of feed allowed affects digestibility. Laboratory methods: digestibility trials: not convenient, expensive, time-consuming laborious, require large numbers of animals to be confirmed/harnessed for long periods, many attempts have thus been made to determine the digestibility of feeds in the laboratory, monogastric animals.
