Emergency management: general framework: tropical cyclones, mitigation (or prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, bushfires, mitigation (or prevention, preparedness, response, recovery. Prevention: actions that individuals, communities, businesses, government can undertake (individually and cooperatively) to possibly prevent natural disasters (ex. bushfires) Prepare: where disasters cannot be prevented (ex. tropical cyclones), we prepare and minimise the risks and vulnerability. Response: where government agencies and communities respond to the hazardous event. Recovery phase: assist the communities in rebuilding and recovering from the disaster (returning to normal ) Minimise the risks and consequences of hazardous events that we cannot prevent: reduce vulnerability of the physical environment, develop/improve hazard detection systems, enhance individual/community resilience. Emergency services develop a plan: deployment (activate) emergency readiness response plans: ex. bushfires begun royal fire service will activate its bushfire readiness plans.
