Document Summary
Week 9 and week 10- mathematics and numeracy. For many years teachers have been taught that all teachers are teachers of literacy, in that they should teach students the literacy that comes up naturally in their own disciplines. Now, we contend that all teachers are also teachers of. All teachers should teach students the numeracy that comes up naturally in their own disciplines. Australian curriculum: mathematics, states: the australian curriculum: mathematics aims to ensure that students recognise connections between the areas of mathematics and other disciplines and appreciate mathematics as an accessible and enjoyable discipline to study. (p. 3) Over the next two weeks we are going to look at some of these connections. First of all, here is a reminder of what. To be numerate is to use mathematics effectively to meet the general demands of life at home, in paid work, and for participation in community and civic life (aamt, p. 2).
