The cannon-bard theory: the cannon-bard theory, is the theory in which the physiological arousal caused by an emotional event is general, and the thalamus is the pivot What does the cortex do: early experiments by researchers such as philip bard removed the cortex of animals. Later, more detailed experiments electrically stimulating the hypothalamus suggested that the: posterior region controls sympathetic output, anterior region controls parasympathetic output, medial region controls sns elicited aggression that has direction to it. Limbic system: the hypothalamus is associated with a larger distributed network (above it in the brain) called the limbic system, the limbic system represents the border between the lower brain and the cortex. The amygdala and conditioned emotion: the amygdala is another region associated with the limbic system, situated below the hypothalamus.
