The world as it is perceived is the world that is behaviourally important. Different versions of self: personal self- traits that differentiate you from others within your social context. Relies on interpersonal comparison to protect or enhance the person psychologically: relational self- traits shared with relationship partners. 3cs model of self concept: complexity- the number of distinctive roles that you perceive about yourself, consistency- the extent to which you exhibit similar personality and values across multiple selves. High scores are associated with higher self-esteem: clarity- the extent to which you are clearly and confidently defined. Self-complexity: associated with feeling less negatively after failure, lower levels of depression and lower perceived stress, assumed to facilitate leader development and helps leaders to better adjust to different cultural settings.
