Sensitive parents = securely attached children (interventions designed to improve sensitivity seems to lead to securely attached children) Attachment style leads to working model of future social relationship expectations, leads to social competence later in life. (groh found attachment reliably predicted social competence with peers. Insecure and disorganised attachments are risk factors for developmental problems. Self awareness - rouge test of self awareness (red spot on nose and look in mirror) Can recognise themselves in photos, start using their own name and personal pronouns. Preschoolers: focus on concrete or physical appearance and abilities, favourite possessions etc. Primary school: reference to more general traits including psychological characteristics, more realistic self evaluation, social comparison (to peers) Adolescents: abstract descriptions, recognise that self-concept varies across contexts (eg. shy in school but con dent with friends), personal values, ethical standards, sexual identity mentioned/recognised.
