Each genre is defined by: Include these in genre analysis answers in exam.

Genres:
Procedure: To instruct how a task is completed, usually in a series of sequential steps.
The how. Instructions, manual, science, experiments.
Narrative: To entertain. stories, fairy tales, myths, fables.
Discussion: To put forward a point of view, to justify a position or to present a case.
Essays, argument, debates, reviews, interpretation, evaluations.
Recount: To retell past events. Present recount or historical.
Explanation: To account for why things are as they are, why something occurs.
Explanations as to why something occurs, elaboration, illustrations, accounts.
