DOH253 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Ameloblast, Tooth Wear, Bone Morphogenetic Protein
Document Summary
Area enclosed by the double attachment shown here of the enamel organ. Recently organising centre that initiates cusp patterning. Develop from cells in central region of dental organ that fails to grow. Signalling molecules that influence shape of crown and development of dental. Apoptosis after cusp patterning (disappears) - evidence. Nerve supply starts as plexus under dental papilla during cap stage. Nerves spread and penetrate dental papilla with onset of dentinogenesis papillae. Blood vessels invade papilla at early bell stage. Evident in follicle in close association with eee which they never penetrate. When full layer of enamel has formed and the 3d structure of the crown has been established in hard tissue, the blood vessels penetrate through the enamel organ and reach the tooth. The dental papilla has blood and nerves which proliferate as dentine is ongoing process. Thus dentine is always ahead of enamel. Contact of oral enamel epithelium is essential for odontoblastic differentiation.
