Transnational crime is a product of globalisation
o Ie Italian Mafia used to only effect Italy, but globalisation has made it spread
Greater cross border legal flows create opportunities for illegal flows

driver

o Cosa Nostra (Sicilian Mafia)

What they do
o Deal in fraud/ take advantage of people
o Make them appear to be legitimate through brochures and web pages
o Operate as authentic businesses
o Cybercrime -recently, election tampering in the US
o Steal information to plan attacks or use for malicious interests
o Drug trafficking
o Diversifying -multiple drugs, other types of crimes
o Work in families or just for money
