Wolf of wall street exemplifies a number of features we"d associate with toxic individuals and toxic organisations as well as the wider societal values that enable this type of offending to take place. It"s often under policed or goes undetected/ not at the forefront of what we"d normally think about who criminals are, this is an idea that goes back to the early twentieth century. People like edwin sutherland were very instrumental in theorizing the deviant behaviors and misconduct of individuals who are in influential positions in what"s seen as legitimate organizations. A crime committed by a person of respectability and high social status in the course of his occupation". --> legitimacy in this sense are criminal activities that are often perpetrated by individuals or organizations that we would not normally associate with offending behaviors. Examples of white collar offences: involves misuses of information that can be quite difficult to detect and police.
