Week 9: intelligence testing: compare major theories of intelligence (based on theorist). First standardised and reasonably valid measures did not appear until 1908: pre-1900. Scant reference to intelligence as a general cognitive ability. Origins of formal intelligence testing: roots in england and france in the early 1900s, early approaches focussed on either psychophysical abilities, or judgmental abilities. Galton: psychophysical approach, used sensorimotor tests but found no consistent links between tests.
