ANAT1005 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Tunica Externa, Blood Vessel, Tunica Media
Document Summary
The heart is the first organ to fully develop in the embryo. Development of the heart- during development the heart has 4 unpaired chambers. Later in life they become 2 atria and there is a hole there, the lungs arent functional, the blood goes through this hole for blood movement. Foramen ovale closes due to reversal of pressure differences between atria and dilatation. Tunica intima- inner simple squamous epithelium forming smooth surfaces of lumen (inner hollow surface , thin layer. Tunica media, circular smooth arranged muscle, collagen and elastin proteins. Tunica externa, outer most protective connective tissue, strengthens the blood vessel and anchors it around other tissues. Arteries carry blood away veins toward the heart, Arterioles- thi(cid:374) la(cid:455)er of tu(cid:374)i(cid:272)a (cid:373)edia, do(cid:374)"t (cid:449)a(cid:374)t to for(cid:272)e (cid:271)lood into the capillaries otherwise they will rupture, local chemical signals or the sympathetic system.
