ANAT1005 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Dorsal Root Ganglion, Sciatic Nerve, Cranial Nerves
Document Summary
Cranial nerves come off from the brain and brain stem they start posteriorly towards the nose, they work their way postleriorly inferiorly. Spinal nerves axons coming out in bundles called rootlets they join to the anterior side of the posterior root and they go to the peripheral nerves to provide the stem and trunk, they converge on the anterior motor side. Dorsal root at the back they fuse together at the spinal nerve and already some branching at the dorsal nerves. The spinal nerve is very short its about 1cm intervariable foramen is where it passes through this happens lateral to the vertebral column. Groups of axons r called fascicles there"s a thing layer of connective tissue going round it being the epineurium. Tendons are nice white shiny, nerves are dull they are a pale mundane neutral colour. The colour of nerves and arteries r very similar but if u look closely there will be the fascicle bundles.
