Leadership trait theory says effective leaders possess a similar set of traits or characteristics. Traits are relatively stable characteristics, such as abilities, psychological motives or consistent patterns of behaviour. Traits: desire to lead, drive, cognitive ability, emotional stability, self-confidence, honesty and integrity. The (cid:271)est p(cid:396)edi(cid:272)to(cid:396) of leade(cid:396)ship i(cid:374)flue(cid:374)(cid:272)es is a leade(cid:396)(cid:859)s (cid:271)eha(cid:448)iou(cid:396) People-oriented leaders prefer: encouraging, observing, listening, coaching & mentoring. This st(cid:455)le (cid:272)a(cid:374) (cid:271)e su(cid:373)(cid:373)ed up as (cid:858)do as i do, (cid:374)o(cid:449)(cid:859): the pace-setter very much leads by example, this type of leadership only works with a highly competent and well- motivated team. Authoritative leaders move people towards a vision.
