Objects are usually nouns, noun phases and pronouns
Can take two objects (direct and indirect object
Not all action verbs are transitive – must have a direct object
Intransitive:

All linking verbs are intransitive
Use the ‘what?’ to answer

Recipient of action + verb + doer
Only transitive sentences can be made passive
Switch around with the ‘by’ phase optional
Harder to process and delay information – weighs down writing
Good to use when the doer is unknown, unimportant or to emphasise the object
