You will examine and theorise how the concepts of identity, cultural diversity, representation, and racism unfold in the public domain and how minorities are represented as the "other". You will interpret and analyse contemporary debates surrounding national identity, global citizenship, social inclusion, governance, and australia"s treatment of asylum seekers. On successful completion of this course you should be able to: Research, reflect and interpret established theories and recent developments in immigration, multiculturalism, identity, culture, race/ethnicity, and diversity and apply this to professional practice. Investigate analyse and evaluate recent public debates and discourses on race and social cohesion in australian communities. Evaluate social and community issues from the perspectives of (cid:858)the othe(cid:396)(cid:859) and reflect on the impact on professional practice and justify solutions.
