Document Summary

Individuals& behaviour population species communities ecosystems. Coping (cope) mechanism to the environment= 1 morphology + 2 physiology + 3 behaviour. Behaviour= part of how organisms respond to biotic and abiotic environment. In skull morphology, guts, gut flora, liver enzymes, metabolism . Cheek teeth: slice flesh from the prey and allow wolf to swallow the meat flattened cheek teeth: crushed the leaved and breaking down the cell wall. Not much processing, gut is simple, small stomach, simple intestines. Don"t need to spend time in searching for food, spend time in eating. Gelada baboon ( theropithecus gelada)- searching for grass. Morphology (teeth-similar to other primates, guts-simple gut, no caecum) Physiology ( capacity to digest plant cell wall in grass) Social behaviour (group size, conflict between feeding, safety, mates)- search for nutritious grass- they will be hungry if they didn"t get grass. Fitness: an individual"s relative contribution to the next generation"s gene pool. Insect herbivores consume vegetative parts of plants (e. g. leaves)
