Document Summary

Very diverse environments, so how do all these predators and prey small mammals fall into these niches. How do communities get build when there is so much niche overlap. All nocturnal , most moisture from food, hibernate, fat storage. Now these species all live in niches of the same environment. They waive in the same environment, when competition explains this shouldn"t happen. All the same adaptations so how do they hand out together. However, at one particular site, you do not see all 18 species and rather only see three or four (alpha diversity). So something must be going on to control these communities. What could be in that site is known as gamma diversity. In order for conservation, one must know which species are there and which could be there. Can"t have species coexisting if they are occupying the same niche. The inferior species will die out due to competition. Yes, predictability using assembly rule seems to work.
