In the early 70s: the hippie counterculture went mainstream. Ga(cid:455) rights (cid:271)ega(cid:374) to surface in pop culture. Rock music on the television: there were shows that had live rock music. Music was an extension of revising music from the 60s. The 70s can be sectioned into two halves. In the early 70s everything that was happening into the 60s was pushed (in some cases to excess) at which point a lot of rock fans became disgusted by all the indulgence. This brought up punk (a return to raw power and emotion). The second half of the 70s: punk was not only a reaction to the indulgence but also big business. In the late 70s there were millions of dollars being made by these big companies. So there was some tainting of the rock story due to business and money. Classic rock was being recast by fm radio.
