A lot of theories are based on verbal reports. Personality traits are predispositions to behave a certain way in a variety of situations. Personality: a combination of traits that will show ways of thinking, feeling, etc. Trait theory: video example: family guy, character with a mustache. The mustache was a symbol for a personality trait. His mustache influenced his behaviour in different situations. Most common model: big five model: five factor model of personality traits, refers to repeated surface traits of factor analysis. Factor analysis: how different observations (behaviours) are correlated with each other. Used to extract a more general construct that explains correlation.
