Gender as binary: either/or, to be male is to not be female and vice versa, to be masculine is to not be feminine and vice versa, binary is heavily policed and bounded. Sex = biology: body parts what you are born with; what you are told, genitalia, gender = feature of culture; how culture applies influences, femininity, masculinity. How we make people fit into categories whether they like it or not. Sex & gender go hand in hand: if male then masculine, if female then feminine, re-inscribed through, school, law, media, sports, pop culture. Gender rituals: male, hockey night, drinking/bonding, bros before hos - insulting.
