Likewise if someone commits a tort, this can give rise to a cause of action. The purpose of torts is to allow one party to compensate the other party for their injuries/harm that they have suffered. Torts are part of judge-made" law, not statute law o. Have to go through cases to check safely and carefully in our society. Another purpose of tort law is to ensure that people and companies behave o know that they can get sued if they are not careful. Harm caused to a person, corporation or property for which law provides a civil. Intended to compensate victims and change bad behavior. Deals with aspects of life which surround us everyday. Sometimes person may be charged through both criminal and tort law.
