He states that he always had a belief in socialism, though early on he was ignorant of economics and had never read marx. He was searching for a form of practical socialism not too extreme. Angry about waste of mechanical power, its contempt for simple pleasures that morris belives everyone should enjoy, how this mechanization has destroyed the art of craft. Looked forward towards this future, didnt like what he saw.
