Portraiture: Private vs. Personal Photography was quickly adopted after inventions to represent different events. 19  century, portraiture was the greatest usage of photographs. How did photography contribute to the “cult” of celebrity? Precursors to Photographic Portraits th Portraiture long before the photograph up until about 17  century was to some degree  largely the domain of the aristocracy, church and other social inetes. Cost and social  connections of portraiture made them prohibited for most but the very wealthy and  socially elite.  EX. Piero Della Francesca, Battista Sforza and Federico da Montefeltro. C.1474 oil on  wood.
