Krater- 8th bc (archaic period: geometric starts in dark age and blends into the archaic period, there is an increase in types of motifs- busier over times with more elaborate shapes, more gural scenes. The body of the vase is busiest. Krater is the large mixing bowl for wine and water it is rare that the lid of the vase survives. This vase is typical of geometric because of animal friezes, the same image repeated. Also the central portion of the vase has a scene. Mother deer with baby suckling, they are symmetrical on each side of the plant. Minoan religious double axe appears on the vase too. The human body in late geometric is simpli ed to triangles for chest, circle for head. The perspective is di erent for the torso; the rest is in pro le while the chest is straight on.
