A nice chronological format to the study of the past. It is familiar to study someone"s life from start to end, we all know that people die, and approximately how long they live. We can also learn the intentions behind people"s decisions. There"s an appeal because their lives are important for a reason, they are the celebrities for architectural historians. Biography relates us to the built environment, it connects us to the people who make the buildings, and the buildings themselves. A biography can be consistently dug into, discovering newer and newer information. A way of seeing production of the immediate past, in bite-size chunks. This becomes one of the most important ways of structuring art history; by the lives of the artists - vasari.
