Males (peacocks) have large, colourful tails that are used to attract females. However, the large tail and bright colours make the males less hidden to predators, which can lead to higher mortality rate. Intersexual selection: eg. traits that (cid:373)ales will use to displa(cid:455) to fe(cid:373)ales (cid:894)(cid:862)or(cid:374)a(cid:373)e(cid:374)ts(cid:863)(cid:895). Intrasexual selection: eg. when multiple males compete for a female, the males fight/compete for the chance to reproduce. The theory is due to the cost of producing gametes.
