Higher mortality in wolf pups when they are alone. Predators play important roles and are a major force in natural selection and evaluation. Some animals eat their prey from the inside out. The host can be killed or left alive: if the host is killed it is called a parasitoid (usually small insects) Braconid wasps are parasitoids only in the larval stage. Many flesh flies are also parasitoids in the larval stage: many tachinids lay eggs on their host, some parasitoids paralyze their prey and bury them in the ground with eggs. Digger wasps also paralyze prey for their eggs. They dig a whole paralyze prey then shove the prey down there. They locate a tree and use it to inject it into a grub in the tree.
