Defences there are various types of defences: chemical, physical, appearances, etc: camouflage: there are all kinds of different types of camouflages. Meaning concealment, animals are hidden away from observers. Some animals are very camouflaged and others are not. Camouflaging only works if the animals are cryptic (meaning not moving). i. Background matching: every habitat have certain shapes that allow for the animals in those habitats to camouflage themselves. Grouse birds: woodland forest spots deer with sports for example. Some animals go through a seasonal colour change. For example, for many animals, it is best to have white fur in the winter to match the snow ii. Disruptive markings: discreet patters and markings on an animal for concealment. Some animals have specific features in specific areas that help conceal them. Many songbirds have eyelines and eyestripes for concealment.
