Take an abstract idea (identity) and turn it into a material thing. We start to think that our identity is housed in one or more thing (si card, drivers licence, etc) Social sorting people who belong to the dominate culture are the being that do the surveillance. The (cid:373)i(cid:374)orities that are(cid:374)"t i(cid:374) the do(cid:373)i(cid:374)ate (cid:272)ulture (cid:374)eed to (cid:271)e put u(cid:374)der constant surveillance. We live in a society where there are video cameras all over the place. We exercise surveillance over our own friends through social media and the internet. Constantly censor ourselves because there is the possibility that the state is watching us. Taps i(cid:374)to our fears (cid:449)e ha(cid:448)e a(cid:271)out sur(cid:448)eilla(cid:374)(cid:272)e a(cid:374)d (cid:449)hat it"s like. Turns it into an element of entertainment.
