Document Summary
Dreaming can occur in rem and non-rem (nrem) states. Nrem dreams are different than rem dreams. Nrem = dull and short and don"t really feel like a dream. Rem sleep is characterized by rapid eye movements and dreaming is more common in this stage of sleep muscle atonia is also a part of rem sleep. E. g. dreaming to urinate or dreaming of teeth falling tooth grinding. Not able to reason or remember dreams sometime, maybe during dlpfc. Don"t notice that dreams are often really weird. Correlates visuospatial skill and induvial differences in working memory. Animals and infants cannot report dreams obviously can"t communicate what they remember if anything. Commonly people assert that there was much more to their dream than they can report. Continuously ask people what their dreams tend to be like. Wake people up during sleep cycles and ask them to report dreams. This is the most scientifically the best way.
