Qualia= subject experience of a mental state which a functionalist does not account for. The problem is: it"s possible to have 2 people with the exact same life but have 2 different experiences. Functionalism can only capture relational properties (ex. You can also have something that is identical functionally, but there is no experience at all. Image a place where everyone is functional but there are no experiences being gathered, they work like a brain functions. The imitation game: the integrator is trying to determine if they are speaking to a person or a computer. If a computer can display ability x in a way that is indistinguishable, from an expert"s point of view, from a human being displaying ability x, then it really has that ability. Applied to intelligence: if a computer can fool a human judge into thinking that it is interacting with a human, then it is intelligent.
