Fields that compose cognitive science: psychology: study of natural minds, broadly in cognitive functioning. Methods: lab experiments, statistical analysis, computer cognitive modelling. Dif cult science because theres no many levels of understanding. Cognitive psychology: broad eld of basic research in human internal mental processes. Human factors/human computer interaction: how people psychologically interact with artifacts (human-designed things), such as user interfaces. Evolutionary psychology: how our evolutionary history has made our minds what they are, research is done by looking back on how humans were living x years ago to connect with how people act present day. Comparative psychology: animal cognition, sometimes comparing it to humans: psychology critiques: Dustbowl empiricism: not enough theory and explanations behind experiments. Methodology limited: cognitive science is possible because psychology wont innovate to embrace the methods of the other elds, psychology bases all theories on experiments. Underestimate the complexity of language: theories are often too simple: philosophy: usually big questions, what out concepts mean, quite broad.
