Philosophy and science were not particularly distinguished yet. Psychophysics: study things like how fast can something change and we notice it. Freud got a lot of things wrong but we must remember what kind of era he was working in and the tools at his disposal. He was also first person to research and think about the unconscious mind. Watson: we can"t measure belief or emotion so it"s not legitimate science. Wanted to make psychology a more reputable science. Behaviourism was very influential in canada and us. During war, military asked psychologist to help pilots fix mistakes. So they began discussing with experts in other field like communication. This led to psychologists to think of a different way to view the mind. Behaviourist were not good at writing about language. This field of study was killed by ai. Computers were so much more accurate and predictable. Would have been firs programmable computer and without electricity.
