Document Summary
We can observe what kind of tools or materials prior ancestors used but not their language or behaviours. We have to infer from what we find. By measuring at what point of the decay carbon is at in the bones then we can estimate how old it is. If language is instinctual then it predates human existence. Non-human ancestors must have had some language capacities. Chimps are more related to humans than they are to gorilla genetically. We"re not sure what the common ancestor is with chimp because it happened so long ago. Fossils help us to find out what they might have looked like. For example neanderthal is an ancestor of ours, not sure how they went extinct however. The mitochondria of the male is not given to the baby, only the female. This means we can track to see how similar and different humans are. Most creatures have not left fossils so we have some missing links.
