Moral panics address specific issue of concern they often come through periods of change and they are marked by a sense of loss. Contemporary meanings of childhood are shaped by the links between the past and present. Each generation thinks they had it better than the current generation because we only see the negatives in the new and the positives in ours. Therefore looking back we think they had it so hard but it would be useful to know what they went through to better ourselves and they current generations. What problems with sources have historians faced when studying children. The study of nature and grounds of knowledge especially with reference to its limits and validity. Over the last 500 years 2 big changes for children in the western context; Changed the way adults see their young. The state now sees children as an asset in its future. Thus the rise of institutionalization of childhood ie: school.
