Climate change through the ages man"s awareness of climate change: Change in concerns between the 1960s and 1980s. Unlike other theories in earth science, climate change has been politicized. Economic and political drivers: i. e. carbon trading set up by goldman sachs, carbon tax and wealth redistribution from the rich north to the developing third world. Hockey stick graph by mann et al: severally minimized the medieval warming period. During the 1970s, people were worried about global cooling. There have been many periods of warming and cooling in the past. Water temperature and pressure have a big impact on the amount of dissolved co2 in the oceans. Water vapor is the dominant source of co2. Modern temperatures can be measured using thermometers on the ground or from satellites. But there are some landmasses and most of the oceans that don"t have a lot of temperature measurement stations. Urban development around some stations may be skewing the data.
