Nestor trying to offer advice to agamemnon. Tells him not to take briseis with him. Zeus trying to figure out how to get his plan in action. Sends a dream to agamemnon in the shape of nestor telling him he can take troy. Lies, tells him hera is going to have the greeks win when thetis is going to have the trojans win. Calls an assembly, meets with his counsel. Agamemnon doesn"t know zeus is deceiving him but is deceiving his troops (parallel) Says let"s go home and people agree. The real nestor suspects the dream was lying. Takes the sceptor from agamemnon and starts rounding up the men. Beats thersites with the sceptor to take control. Reminds them of an omen > snakes eating a sparrow > greeks will win the war in the tenth year. Odysseus is like zeus in power, agamemnon suffers from his ate.
