In giza because of the massive scale of the great pyramids mud brick cannot be used (unlike the smaller pyramids like djoser and snefru where they could not carve granite and mudbrick was much cheaper). Instead they are forced to use stronger materials like granite from aswan, and the reason why they can build these massive structures is because they have the technology to cut granite. Digging under a structure made of granite is much more dangerous and difficult than a structure made of mud brick. They didn"t have a lot of marble statuary because they didn"t find the marble quarries (though they found the quarries for granite long before). Blocks that resemble brick are called - ashlars. Children are in the quarters of the mothers until they reach the age of 8 when young boys are moved to the quarters of their mother. Sucking on the finger means that he is pre-pubescent.
