Document Summary
Important: neurons just respond to the cones that they want to respond to and don"t respond to the ones they don"t want to. They aren"t very detailed, but they are very important. Early visual processing (v1, v2, v4) stimulus: different neurons are going to fire based on different properties of the, what the colour is, the orientation of the (cid:498)lines(cid:499) produced by the border, where those features are in space. In early vision there is a sense in which the brain is representing those basic properties and nothing more. Endogenous vs. exogenous: exogenous activity, firing of neurons as a result of external some stimulus is presented, neural activity not caused by external activity attention. We"re trying to see if there"s an effect just from paying attention: endogenous activity. Tells us there is a difference, but doesn"t tell us anything about early or late processing.
