Being expected to sit in a classroom for three hours straight. Being able to get to classes in the snow, without elevators. They reject a deficit model of asd and accept the gift of seeing the world in unique ways. They insist that nts shouldn"t adapt more and try harder to understand people who are different from them and what they go through every day to function in a neurotypical world. Many people find comfort in embracing and celebrating asd identities. Many had to suffer through social stigma. Many nts are uncomfortable with or don"t try to understand people who are different from them. Othernes tends to make those people invisible. Their struggles feelings and aspirations are excluded from the mainstream understanding of human experience. Enabled throufh the media and internet promoting connections wioth people with disabilities beyond family. Mother blame refrigerator mother (not so much father)
